Thank you all for your suggestions. Although I installed the plugin, my findings are bleak:
Administrator Modules: Latest Actions does not exist.
In the extensions table in the database, there is no "com.actionlogs".
The plugin System User Action Logs is enabled.
In User: User Action Logs: Options: Events to Log, there are no choices on offer.
Finally, I quote: "Even if the Action Logs component does not appear in the default menu, it is possible to access it directly:
http://example.com/administrator/index. ... actionlogs
Update: the above URL can of course be accessed from Users - User Actions Logs"
I don't understand this — what is "http://example.com/administrator/index. ... actionlogs". Please remember I am working on MAMP, not on a live site.
